Dental implants, fillings and avoiding extremes

Frederic describes the opposing extremes he hears about dental materials.

The Wonders say modern implants do micro-leach, but at current technology's leaching rate an implant placed at age 20 would last roughly 744 years before needing replacement - more than enough for a present life cycle - so reasonableness should apply.

The ideal would be stem-cell-grown teeth, which are not yet commercial but are expected to be in about 10 to 12 years; rather than wait, get the implant now and replace it later, since missing teeth cause bone loss, gum disease and bone structure movement.

For a filling being replaced the next day, they recommend a plastic or composite filling as better for the body, and when he mentions dentists arguing that other materials last longer, they agree that is true and joke that metal underwear would also last longer but nobody wants it.
